Alexa DeJoseph, LAC Psychotherapist Alexa DeJoseph is a Licensed Associate Counselor focused on supporting children, adolescents, and their families through the challenges of growing up. Alexa specializes in helping young people navigate emotional, behavioral, and developmental issues through the use of evidence-based practices including play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness techniques. Alexa also has experience working with adults struggling with relationship issues, family dynamics, substance use disorders, and self-esteem related concerns. Alexa’s therapeutic approach is rooted in an understanding of child development and a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment. She utilizes a combination of evidence-based techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of each child or adolescent. Alexa incorporates play therapy when working with younger children to help them express thoughts and feelings in a comfortable way, while also exploring conflicts and developing coping strategies. Alexa incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when working with older children and adolescents to address anxiety, depression, and many other challenges. Alexa also believes that family dynamics play a crucial role in a child’s well-being. Alexa works collaboratively with parents and caregivers, providing support and guidance to foster positive communication and strengthen family relationships. Alexa’s goal is to empower children and adolescents to navigate their emotions, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to thrive. Alexa has provided individual and group therapy to those struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions. Alexa is also a certified School Counselor and has an extensive background in public school systems helping students and families navigate experiences with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Differences, Social Deficits, and Behavioral Regulation issues. Alexa earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an additional bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science from the University of Delaware. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling from Montclair State University and her Clinical Mental Health graduate certification from the University of South Dakota.
