Ami P. Kang, LCSW Assistant Clinical Director, Creative Director, Licensed Psychotherapist Ami Patel Kang, LCSW is a psychotherapist focused on providing therapy for young adults, adults, and couples with relationship concerns, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. In addition to her clinical work, she is the Assistant Director of the Couples Counseling Program, and regularly runs a couple’s consultation group with other Lukin Center clinicians. She serves as the Creative Director for Lukin Center. Ami’s emotionally-focused, client-centered approach to therapy uses cognitive-behavioral and attachment-based methodologies. She is passionate about creating an individualized plan for each of her clients that takes their life circumstances into consideration, while incorporating evidence-based theories into her work. Her ultimate goal is to help her clients lead happier and healthier lives according to their personal goals and objectives, and her treatment plans help her clients shift their patterns and improve their quality of life. Ami has advanced training in emotional focused therapy (EFT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). She earned a certificate in Violence Against Women and Children, and she has experience working both individually and in group settings with clients who have endured various forms of trauma. As the Creative Director at Lukin Center, Ami takes a hands-on approach to outreach and marketing efforts, including monitoring social media initiatives, understanding Lukin Center’s brand image, and participating in local mental health events. She takes pride in Lukin Center’s growth and direction, and believes that comprehensive mental health treatment involves much more than the work that is done in the office. Ami earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) as well as her BS in public health and psychology from Rutgers University.
