Julia Baer, PsyD, MSEd Psychotherapist Dr.Julia is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, emotion dysregulation, trauma, and major life transitions. She has extensive experience supporting clients through challenges related to identity development, school and career stress, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and periods of emotional overwhelm. Dr.Julia is particularly passionate about helping adolescents and young adults build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and feel more confident managing the demands of everyday life. She also works closely with adults seeking support with mood-related concerns, distress tolerance, interpersonal difficulties, and navigating transitional stages of adulthood. Dr.Julia uses an integrative, strengths-based, and person-centered approach to treatment. She works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand themselves, develop effective coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change both inside and outside of therapy sessions. Drawing from DBT, CBT, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed modalities, Dr.Julia tailors treatment to each individual’s unique needs and goals while creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. Her work focuses on helping clients build emotional awareness, increase distress tolerance, strengthen relationships, and feel more empowered and in control of their lives. Dr.Julia has completed over 40 hours of DBT training with DBT-Linehan Board Certified Clinicians and has facilitated two 16-week PTSD Trauma Skills Groups based on the Seeking Safety model while incorporating DBT skills training. She has specialized experience helping clients develop practical skills for emotion regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and coping with trauma-related symptoms. Dr.Julia’s clinical experience includes providing therapy and psychological assessment services across outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment settings for children, adolescents, and adults. She previously worked at the McShane Center for Psychological Services providing outpatient therapy to children and adults. She completed her clinical externship at St. Christopher Ottilie Residential Treatment Facility, where she conducted psychological assessments and facilitated individual and DBT group therapy for children and adolescents with dual diagnoses. Dr.Julia completed her doctoral internship at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where she worked with children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. Dr.Julia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Jewish Studies from Muhlenberg College and went on to receive both her Master’s in Education and Doctorate in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association. Outside of her clinical work, Dr.Julia enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, reading, and spending time with her husband, friends, and family. She is also a dedicated Mets fan.
