Pre-Doctoral Externship

Overview

The Lukin Center for Psychotherapy offers a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) externship position, suitable for a psychology doctoral student seeking additional clinical hours.

The Lukin Center is a cutting-edge private practice providing high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy services to the Ridgewood, Hoboken, Montclair, Englewood, Westfield, and Jersey City communities (Essex, Bergen, Hudson, and Union Counties). Dr. Konstantin Lukin and Dr. Paula Yanes-Lukin founded our practice in 2014, with a mission to provide evidenced-based treatment backed by scientific research and proven to achieve results for our patients. Today, our clinical team is at the heart of that commitment, composed of a hand picked group of professionals practicing at the top of their fields, with extensive training and an impressive variety of professional degrees and the most up-to-date certifications possible. The Lukin Center is an APA accredited training center for continuing education and upholds the highest standards for its clinicians, with an emphasis placed on ongoing training in modernized, research based approaches to treatment. We take pride in always having the most compassionate, extensively trained experts on our team.

Clinical Duties

The extern will be responsible for providing individual therapy to 5-8 outpatient cases, with opportunities to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, and treating a range of mild to moderately severe presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment disorders, etc.

The extern will also participate in our newly formed DBT program, by co-leading one DBT skills group, and attending our DBT Consultation Team meeting. Their individual clinical caseload will be made up of some DBT patients and also some presenting with other issues
