Tara Richardson, DNP, PMHNP-BC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Dr. Tara Richardson is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who specializes in providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy to clients experiencing trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders. She is especially focused on child, adolescent, and young adult mental health. Dr. Richardson tailors her treatment to meet the individual needs of her clients and their families. She values collaboration with her clients’ entire care team, including therapists, medical providers, and school staff. She recognizes the benefits that medication can have, and also places importance on a holistic approach, considering all environmental, psychosocial, relational, and medical stressors that may be contributing to symptoms. An experienced pediatric nurse, Dr. Richardson also provides consults for primary care practices and works closely with traumatized children, adolescents, and adults affected by the child welfare system. She has directly supervised therapists, nurses, and psychiatric nurse practitioner students. She enjoys teaching, and holds a faculty appointment at Columbia University. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Dr. Richardson earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from Penn State University, and her Master of Science in nursing (MSN) and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees from Columbia University.
